Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Minister of Finance of the UAE, inaugurated the Dubai FinTech Summit 2023. The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) hosted the two-day event, which drew together 5,000 industry leaders, executives, policymakers, entrepreneurs, delegates, and investors from over fifty countries. Sheikh Maktoum highlighted Dubai’s role as a catalyst for technological advancement in the banking industry and the city’s ecosystem that fosters FinTech development. Triterras co-hosted the summit alongside the main sponsor and other sponsors and serves as a bronze sponsor for the event.

The inaugural keynote was delivered by the Governor of DIFC, His Excellency Essa Kazim, who emphasized the center’s role in the economy of Dubai and its dedication to enhancing the FinTech ecosystem. Businesses pursuing expansion and growth have been drawn to Dubai by its strategic location, business-friendly policies, and world-class infrastructure. During the Summit, more than twenty MoU agreements were signed, demonstrating Dubai’s commitment to fostering international cooperation.

The CEO of the DIFC Authority, Arif Amiri, emphasized the significance of the Dubai FinTech Summit in advancing the future of finance through innovation, technology, and partnerships. The scale of the FinTech industry is anticipated to double from $135 billion in 2021 to $270 billion by 2027. Due to its status as a global business center, Dubai is well-positioned to take the lead in this dynamic industry. Over 27% of the center’s entire client growth has been driven by FinTech and innovation companies.

Speakers at the event included the UAE Minister of Economy, the CEOs of significant financial industry leaders, and various other financial experts from around the world to promote cross-border cooperation. Dubai hopes to mould the future with sustainability, technology, and partnerships, using its prospering business ecosystem and commitment to fostering FinTech growth.
